Generational Chasms of Differences
People talk about the differences between generations as if those differences are like a bay or maybe a gulf, a two-dimensional appearance presenting truths separated by some distance, but two sides connected by some solid fundamental. I think of the differences as being more like a chasm. A chasm is more akin to a gigantic rift than a valley. The chasm I’m thinking of is between generations and has been established by a change in the concept of truth.
The new concept of truth is untruth in every way possible. It rejects the truth found in Psalms 56:5 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil. Isaiah 32:7 The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right. Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil that put darkness for light and light for darkness that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
The new concept of truth brought about by the “woke” generation seemingly holds the field. Perhaps it will for a little while; but, like all of man’s machinations will fade away, yielding to the one truth found in the Holy Bible: God is here and he cares for YOU!…and me…and all who will receive his Holy gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
If consensus can be monolithic, then “wokeism” is its champion. Being “woke” conceptualizes and activates in one’s mind things that God abhors: abortion, transgenderism, divorce, homosexuality, outcome based religion, greed, even murder and probably dozens more.
The “woke” ideas are all around us; look at modern literature, art, newspapers, TV news, magazines all claiming to be liberal in their presentations. They apparently think, “Who doesn’t want to be liberal, like us. We’re liberal because the people we admire are liberal, and you should be liberal, too!” They look to themselves for wisdom and in doing so become fools.
I think it was Rush Limbaugh who coined the term “libtards,” though I may be wrong. He explained a libtard as being anyone on the “progressive” left whose worldview is based on current schools of thought, but who was mentally retarded in examining what and when that school of thought might bring into their lives. He most often referred to libtards as “sheeple,” that is, people who are led like sheep to the slaughter.
The woke, the libtards, the sheeple, whatever moniker you choose for the left-wing progressives, have their own methodology. Their methodology isn’t like ours. I refer to methodology as meaning the way we approach truth and knowing. Christian methodology is one of submission to God’s authority with humility and thanksgiving. Their methodology is one of suffocation, wherein only mankind’s logic can be considered and utilized in thinking, in action, and in particular, in communications with others.
Consider creation and evolution, or example. The woke explain creation in terms of nothing somehow exploding, the result of which is everything exists. That thinking has been going on since before Darwin. But, through Darwin, we’ve all been suffocated by unprovable thoughts and theories to believe that, somehow, man evolved from some kind of protein laden slime to become a bi-pedal thinking and creative creature, who may only be slightly above animals in some way, who can do little wrong in terms of the whole scheme of things. I don’t like that kind of thinking; yet, I admire the faith it takes to believe it. Sadly, there are too many Christians still accepting that nonsense.
Centuries unfolded since Christ was on earth and Christians were asked to accept a universal creation by God. There was no reasonable alternative. The Industrial Age brought enlightenment. Enlightenment was provided by (then) modern communications through the printed page. Ideas abounded, and so, Darwin brought enlightenment with just a few examples of how a very few birds and beasts provided “perfect” examples of evolution, and theorized that mankind followed a similar pattern; but, there is no pattern! There is only drift, one idea drifting toward a new idea, and none being sufficiently analyzed. Witness modern science in all its manifestations.
From Darwin’s time forward, young Christians have been mostly brought up in Christian homes, in the old framework of truth, as some would call it. Then the new framework began its work of lies and disinformation, not allowing for any aspect of critical thinking from the perspective provided through God’s Holy Word, the King James Bible.
Back then, pre-Darwin, the vast majority of Americans and most Europeans expected nothing but truth from the pulpit. Today, liberal pastors in some churches have twisted the truth. Consider Corinthians 7:34 “There is difference [also] between a wife and a virgin,” in KJV and in NIV, “and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs:…” (Hmm. Isn’t it interesting how NIV and others have switched some text between verses 33 and 34 to refocus on man’s definition rather than God’s.) Today, the Barna Group tells us that only about 4% of Americans hold a Biblical worldview. If America’s population is around 340,000,000, that’s a around 13,400,000 Christians remaining. That’s still a wonderful remnant for God to use in restoring our country. Join me in prayer for America’s Christian restoration.
